Akihabara!
That's right, Howesan and I went to Akihabara, Tokyo's "Electric Town," today. Rockin'
Before I get to our adventure, I must point out some awesome footwear:
Yay! It's the Don't-Get-Caught-In-The-Door Kitty
After we took the Ginza Line, we arrived at Suehirocho station and I led us down the street the wrong way for a few minutes. When we turned around and walked back to the station, we saw a little flag we hadn't seen before...
Welcome to Akihabara! (then I gave howesan the map)
It's Akihabara! This is a pachinko parlor... so many floors...
More of the craziness...
We wandered into game store after game store. They all pretty much had a floor or two of anime, a floor of game and anime music, a few floors of games, and a few floors of "adult dvd..."
On the game cd floor, howesan found some amazing things!
(she only bought the kingdom hearts one)
I bought a DS light because it was awesome.
Then after wandering round and looking at store after store we stopped for lunch at the healthiest place ever: Mister Donut.
Howesan was adventurous and had a frankfurtur pie and a donut. (she said her "pie" had mayo.. ha!)
I had a strawberry iced donut and two "eggs" that were filled with coolwhip and strawberry icing. and melon soda. howesan had coke.
Then we went to some random music building and checked out the music bar.
Howesan was in deep concentration... but the music was not what she hoped it would be (and that was final fantasy...)
So then we wandered around and howesan found the FFXII final fantasy sound track. but she didn't buy it because the game hasn't come out in the US yet, even if it's out here and so it wouldn't mean anything to her if she didn't have the game to go with the music.
Then we saw club sega, an arcade, and went in.
And we played the coolest drumming game ever.
It's called Taiko no Tatsujin, or Drum Master. Let me just say that Howesan is indeed a master at this game. Crazy rhythm! (i wasn't terrible until we played on the hardest mode, but still she kept getting things like 98%)
Some guy was like.. wow, you're good (to sarah, of course) and so he challenged her to a duel.
He picked songs that he knew too- and even still, howesan beat him! yatta!
Next we went to a random electronics store. They had this cute gadget called the iDog. He was so cute.
Next, we found a karioke machine in the store and rocked out. Howesan for some reason has terrible video of me so you'll just have to imagine it was enough to make your brain leak out your ears....
but somehow howesan survived and went on to sing Brick House fantastically. (the video uploaded it a little funny so the sound and video aren't matched up exactly... still, it's fantastic)
Yeah! you go, howesan!
Then, we went to another game store that had game memorabilia. Howesan was in love!
Then we stopped for a snack... I had the one on the left and howesan had the one on the right.
Look! Hold it in your hand, love it in your tummy. and so we did.
Crapes!!!
Here's howesan, holding her crape. She made a new friend.
Then we went home and learned that cheese looks like pac man and loves to drink beer. The crazy things you learn on the subway, no?
On the way home something intersting happened...
Howesan became godzilla and destroyed a building crushed some tiny japanese people as the fled in fear.
When she calmed down a bit we continued on our way home.
Then i did some homework... Gasp... and then....!
We went to a bar to watch japan's first game in the world cup.
We were obviously rockin'
yep...
Here's howesan cheering for japan:
(ok... actually it was kinda dull for a lot of it because we came in right after japan scored its first and only goal so things were pretty quiet except for the guys next to us who were waaaay gone. and the australians in the back of the bar.
Every once in a while, however, some of the japanese would cheer.
The drunk guys next to us were very cheerful and offered to take pictures...
Here's us and them. peace.
In the last twenty or so minutes japan let 3 goals in and so they lost 3-1. Zannenda.
