I've been uploading pictures, expect them to be posted tonight(japan time)
today i'm going to ueno. i think i'm going to wander around the park and maybe hit up a museum. (art or science)

[about Saturday]

On Saturday we tried to go to the sword museusm. We took the metro...

But we got lost.

really lost.


So we just walked to the government buildings because they were supposed to be really pretty.
There was a mobile.(or whatever you call it when it moves in teh wind but is attached at the ground and not the ceiling... because there was no ceiling outside...)


There were statues everywhere.

From the government buildings we wandered into shibuya park. There was a waterfall at the entrance.
My metro.Tokyo teacher was talking about how tokyo uses running water in parks to make them seem more serene. It blocks out the sound of the city.
but look, there i am.

There was a temple in the park.


or maybe it was a shrine... i think i'll go with shrine.


the shrine had a waterfall too.


but don't be fooled by the greenery- we're still in the city.


rules for enjoying the park:
don't build fires, don't play baseball, but dogs are ok. (look, the person has a baggie with them)

hobos. There are hobos hidden all over the city. The government denies that they're here. or in the subway.. or anywhere. but there they are. they don't harass you or anything.

the park was really peaceful. and isolated.


but finally we got our bearings and started on our way to the musesum. unfortunately it was pretty late.. like 3:30 and the museum closed at 5 and we wouldn't have gotten there by the time it closed so we went to a different museum.

ok, so we finally got to the museum.. it was an art museum.. The exhibits change about every month. It was on the 42nd floor.



Here was my entrance ticket. The theme was "a passion for plants" The Shirley Sherwood Collection-Contemporary Botanical Masterworks" and it was almost all plants. They were very realistic but boring. they were separated by continent. the last room had paintings by Seiji Togo, for whom the museum was named, these were...well...not plants. and so they were nice.



The best thing about the musesum was that it was 42 flights up. It had an awesome view of the city.












There were posters of other exhibits. This was at a different museum. It's too bad the exhibit had finished because it looked pretty cute.

The next exhibit is pop-art it starts in july.

oh, and it was raining... all day.


There was art inside the subway. we looked for a place to eat...

there was plastic food outside a few shops. this is mucho gross looking.

but at least there were plastic veggies....


ok, this is the nastiest thing ever. tuna waffle sandwich. 'nuff said.

but we didn't find anythign we wanted so we left the metro station (here's what it looked like from the outside)


still raining.


so, eventually we found a sushi place... where the plates go around on a little track... prices vary by the color of plate.




I had tofu-wrapped-rice. it was reaaaly good.



then we went back to the metro. saw some more..urm.. interesting art... and went back to the dorm.


and this is why you shouldn't wear ghetto pants when it's raining.
